These red-capped Amethysts are often sold as “Super 7” or even “Auralite 23,” with mislabelling common in the industry (see my blog for more details).

Amethyst commonly forms in iron-rich environments, and the deep red cap on this piece is a natural hematite (iron oxide) coating. Sourced from Brazil, it features multiple baby terminations and a beautiful contrast between rich purple quartz and bold red hematite — a striking example of natural mineral layering.
