Crystal Facts

What Is Girasol Quartz?

Girasol quartz is the retail name for highly translucent, milky quartz. It is prized for its soft, dreamy glow, traditionally attributed to liquid inclusions.

On closer examination, this piece also contains fine, rutile-like needle particles that contribute to the subtle sheen and occasional chatoyance seen in Girasol quartz. These needles are likely to be dumortierite and or siillimanite, which are also observed in some star rose quartz.
