This Optical Calcite, also known as Iceland Spar, is a clear natural calcite crystal famous for its remarkable optical phenomenon called double refraction (birefringence).

When placed over text or a small object, the crystal creates a doubled image. As you slowly rotate it, something even more intriguing happens — one image stays still while the other appears to move.

This occurs because Optical Calcite splits light into two rays that travel through the crystal at different angles, producing the distinctive double refraction effect.
