A relatively new find from Turkey, this striking combination of glittering epidote and minty-green chlorite-included quartz has quickly become a sought-after specimen among collectors. Most known pieces originate from Şemdinli, in the southern part of Hakkari Province.

Chlorite Quartz with Epidote Facts

The Hakkari region where these chlorite quartz with epidote are found, sits within one of the most geologically active mountain belts in the Middle East. The intense tectonic forces that shaped these mountains also helped create the fractures and mineral-rich fluids necessary for quartz crystal growth.

Geologists frequently find epidote and chlorite occurring in the same hydrothermal and metamorphic environments.

In many Hakkari specimens, the epidote isn't just one smooth crystal. It's actually a cluster of countless tiny crystal points and terminations. Each termination can reflect light independently, creating a "sugary" or "diamond dust" sparkle.
