What is Star Rose Quartz?

Star rose quartz is a rare variety of rose quartz, admired for its luminous star-like pattern known as asterism.

Contrary to popular belief, the star formation is not due to rutile. 

Even rarer, this Star Rose Quartz sphere displays double asterism, which is thought by scientists to be caused by 2 minerals, not one: dumortierite and boron-bearing sillimanite - see page 132 [here]
