Crystal Facts

Smoky Quartz Facts

Unlike many minerals that gain their colour during formation, smoky quartz develops its smoky hue later when natural radiation from surrounding rocks interacts with trace amounts of aluminum in the crystal. This transformation can take millions of years to occur.
