What is a Money Toad?

The 3-Legged Money Toad in Chinese lore, is traditionally depicted as a frog with a single hind leg and a coin in its mouth. It is believed to attract financial success and good fortune.

While the Money Toad traditionally represents prosperity, it can also be appreciated as a reminder of a biblical principle: true provision does not come from an object, but from God.

Deuteronomy 8:18 reminds us, “Remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth.” Rather than viewing the carving as something that attracts money, it can symbolise gratitude for God's provision, wise stewardship of what we have been given, and the responsibility to use abundance for good.

In this way, the Money Toad becomes not a talisman of wealth, but a reminder to place our trust in the Source of all provision.
