Natural Zambian Amethyst with Phantom Growth

This natural Amethyst specimen from Zambia displays a distinct internal phantom, revealing an earlier stage of the crystal’s growth preserved within the final formation. Phantoms form when crystal growth pauses and a fine layer of mineral inclusions, fluid, or natural surface material marks the earlier crystal shape before later quartz continues growing over it.

The smaller crystals dressing the lower half of the main amethyst point are a beautiful example of secondary quartz growth. These tiny companion crystals likely formed during a later stage of mineral-rich fluid activity, adding texture, sparkle, and a sense of layered growth history to the specimen.
