What is Pink Natrolite?

Pink Natrolite, often marketed as “Pink Larimar,” is a rare pink zeolite material from Nusa Kambangan Island in Central Java, Indonesia. Although its soft pink colour and wave-like patterns can resemble Larimar when polished, it is not true Larimar. Genuine Larimar is a blue pectolite from the Dominican Republic, while this Indonesian material has been identified as natrolite.

Natrolite is a zeolite mineral that can form secondarily within volcanic basalt environments. This pink Indonesian variety is especially unusual because of its attractive rose-pink tones, creamy patterning, and distinctive Larimar-like texture.

The trade name “Pink Larimar” refers only to its visual similarity to Larimar, not its mineral composition. This material is best appreciated as Pink Natrolite: a beautiful and relatively recent Indonesian find with its own unique colour, patterning, and mineralogical identity.
