Pink lepidolite and green tourmaline in a smoky quartz matrix. This point contains small brown, iron-oxide–like inclusions, and it is unclear whether these contribute to the quartz’s smoky colour.

At the tip, some green tourmaline may have been partially replaced by pink lepidolite — suggested by the mica-like sheen in the pink areas. Pseudomorphs of this kind are known from Brazil, the locality of this piece. It is also possible that portions of the pink material are pink tourmaline.

As exact mineral proportions cannot be confirmed, this specimen is conservatively described as a mixture of green tourmaline and pink lepidolite, possibly with some pink tourmaline present.
