Labradorite Facts

Labradorite is a variety of plagioclase feldspar admired for its natural optical effect known as labradorescence. The blue and gold flash is not a surface coating, but is created when light interacts with microscopic internal layers within the feldspar, reflecting vivid colours from different angles. This is why Labradorite can appear dark or grey in one direction, then suddenly reveal brilliant blue, gold, green, or rainbow-like flashes when moved in light.
