Stepped Fluorite on Quartz

This beautiful collector’s specimen features a blue-yellow Stepped Fluorite on milky white Tessin quartz, with many tiny “baby” crystals. The fluorite shows subtle colour changes to purple under sunlight.

Tessin quartz refers to rare type of extremely tapered quartz with very small or non-existent top face. 

Stepped fluorite forms when the crystal grows in layers. Small changes during growth cause each layer to build slightly smaller than the last, creating the distinctive “step-like” pattern on the crystal faces.

Please keep fluorite out of sunlight as the colour will fade over time.
