Amazonite Facts

Amazonite is a captivating variety of microcline feldspar, admired for its beautiful shades of turquoise-green to blue-green created by subtle variations within its crystal structure. Formed deep within granitic rocks, this gemstone develops as potassium-rich feldspar slowly crystallises from mineral-rich magma over millions of years. Its distinctive colour was once thought to be caused by copper, but modern studies suggest it is linked to trace amounts of lead and the unique way light interacts with the structure of the mineral. Though in trace amounts, it would not be advised to use Amazonite as elixirs in water. Named after the Amazon River, despite not being found there, Amazonite has long been treasured as one of nature’s most enchanting green gemstones.
